Ground rules for naturism
- First Tip: Don’t say nudist. The word is naturist – didn’t your mother teach you anything?
- Don’t stare. Really, it can be tricky to get used to being on a nude beach, or in a naturist camp-ground or resort, but if you are only here to get your thrills, download porn instead.
- Always, always, ask for permission before you take photos of anyone. This really should apply to all holiday snaps, but especially if your subject is topless.
- It’s not ok to hit on naked strangers just because they’re naked. Naturism is just that, naturism. It’s not a sexual fetish, or an invitation for sex, it’s simply because some people like living their life without their clothes on. Many naturists are families and couples, so forget the stereotypes about swingers parties.
- Unless you know the kids you are playing with, don’t play with them. Sorry, I know that most of you are NOT pedophiles, but with this one it’s better to be safe than sorry. Too many grey areas, you know what I mean?
- Carry a towel. When you’re at a naturist retreat or camping ground, all communal areas will be sat on by a lot of different people. Naturists are realists, and no-one wants to sit where your bare behind was five minutes ago. A towel is mandatory to sit on.
- Erections are not ok, no matter whether you are nude or clothed. End of story. Think about math.
- Try to look people in the eye, rather than letting your eyes drift. It’s natural to be curious, but keep the glances discreet.
- Pack extra sunscreen. This one is not really a point of etiquette, but after renting apartments in Malaga to use as a good base for visiting some of Spain´s most exquisite nude beaches, we can guarantee you will need it!
