Exhibition Maria Jose Gallardo in Malaga
María José Gallardo, a young painter from Seville, will present her exhibition “Brothers” at the Unicaja foundation in Malaga. Most of the paintings on display depict female figures wearing clothes adorned with eclectic symbolic markers of religion, cinema, folk tales, traditions or images that exist in today’s media culture.

Two of the most important paintings from the series “Capitulares” and “With the precious blood of our wounds.” Both were painted using oil and enamel on canvas.
“Chapter Members” is a series of pictures purporting to showcase traditional elements of picture books. This presents the first letter of one of the chapters of various books as a decorative element. This painting marks the beginning of a series of narrative paintings.
“With the precious blood of your wounds” shows open graves with bones tha reflect the painter´s thoughts on various topics. Here, Gallardo is trying to overcome self-imposed speech limitations in an unbiased way.
María José Gallardo was born in Badajoz and graduated in fine arts with a major in printmaking and exhibition design. She has toured several museums and galleries in different cities such as Madrid, Extremadura and Seville. If you want to attend this exhibit, which runs through Aug. 7 rent apartments in Malaga and enjoy a new artist who is giving people a whole lot to talk about.
